In the ceremony held by Dearborn Allied War Veterans Council, a Dearborn service club presented a $2,500 check in the name of Dan L. Ryder, who was selected by past Veteran of Year honorees to receive this year’s award. Ryder, who recently retired after 33 years as an equipment operator, is a veteran of an engineering unit in the Vietnam War.
Mullenweg also discussed an improved feedback loop – trying to incorporate user feedback and testing earlier in the process of making updates. A core goal with this is the desire to incorporate more “normal” people in the process of development.
Monday, May 30: Port Richmond Memorial Day Parade starts at 10 a.m. from the intersection of Thompson Street and Allegheny Avenue in North Philadelphia. String bands and other entertainers will join school groups and veterans. Their route runs north along Thompson Street, west on Venango Street, south on Belgrade Street, east on Clearfield, before returning to Thompson Street heading north to Allegheny where it turns west to Campbell Square Park for the closing ceremonies. Small American flags will be provided.
The host of this little endeavor was Portsmouth’s own H.E.R. Shelter – a domestic violence shelter. The goal of the day was to unveil a tremendously needed men’s mentoring program, where men would be challenged to invest in the lives of young boys and teach them how to grow up to be “real men”, learning to treat women with respect. The professional speaker was ODU’s own Head Football Coach, Mr. Bobby Wilder.
