Home Owners Watch Out – Free Heating Within 5 Years

It’s tough to have a conscience! If you’re trying to live in a way that is sustainable and ethical, you can sometimes end up facing some tough decisions. If you haven’t faced them yet, this should get you thinking and asking yourself the hard questions.

Now, Tom set his sights on working out a plan to take his home “off the grid”, out of the hands of the public electric works. He needed a way to provide his own electricity, so that he and Barbara could stop using electricity from the city. He did his research and found that he had three options for an alternative power source to bring electricity into their home: solar energy, wind power, and hydropower.

Wood is a renewable source, however you need to be careful what type of wood you choose. Hard wood tress such as oak take a very long time to grow and do not grow again once they have been cut down. This makes these types of wood inappropriate to use because it is unsustainable. Pine on the other hand is fast growing and makes a good, durable wood. Pine is very much sustainable. Another type of wood that is catching on around the world is that from bamboo. This doesn’t’ take very long to grow and keeps growing even once cut down. One plant can keep on producing wood for decades. Because there is just a couple of years needed for bamboo to grow to a good size it offers total sustainability. Bamboo flooring is extremely durable and hard wearing too and requires little maintenance.

Buy new clothes and accessories made from recycled non-clothing. New technologies are making it possible for manmade objects like plastic water bottles to be shredded and woven into fibers to make sweaters and socks. You can find handbags made of recycled candy wrappers, and shoes made from old rubber tires. Everything old is indeed new again.

Spend some time recalling the things that brought you together and what you used to love about each other. Spend time together doing things that you both love to do. Needless to say, quit spending time chewing on the things that irritate you; put up or shut up!

Buy pre-owned fashion. If you do want to buy something, shop vintage. When you buy used clothing, you’re recycling it, saving it from the landfill. And it required no additional resources to sustainable energy produce it.

Collecting the wind is another source of power. You will need a wind turbine – something that looks like the propeller of an airplane that sits on top of a tall tower that’s anywhere from fifty to 100 feet tall. The wind blows, making the blades of the turbine move and spin a shaft that runs from the hub of the turbine to the rotor of a generator. The generator spins and creates electricity (again, a direct current). The inverter turns that current into alternating current.

Setting a standard for energy sustainability can be defined by its supply and accessibility. Even since in the dawn of mankind, solar has provided enough supply for power easily. And if earlier people have used it for their daily need, how can we not do it today?
